Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu and the surrounding region will charm you with several activities. A variety of experiences will challenge all your senses.

Agro-tourism

To delight your taste buds, you can stop at any of the many agricultural producers in the region to sample a multitude of fresh products or other food items that have been prepared with great care and passion. Two famous cheese factories which produce around thirty types of cheese, three vineyards where you can get white wines, red wines and rosé wines, a dozen maple groves and numerous apple trees, pear trees, plum trees and other small fruit trees that will satisfy your appetite. A stop-over at one of our chocolate factories is also worthwhile.

Water sports

14 marinas welcome boats of all sizes for small or big adventures. The Chambly Canal is punctuated by nine locks, and with its 1.98m (6.6ft) flow depth and 8.84 m (29ft) air draught, it enables boats to reach the Saint Lawrence River and New York state. Venise and Missisquoi bays on Lake Champlain are heavenly spots for water surfing. With its shallow shores, beginners will feel safer, while more seasoned surfers can venture to the edges of the bays. People with no surfing or underwater diving experience can also be initiated to these activities in the region.

Urbain life

In symbiosis with the Richelieu River, the Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu region reflects important aspects of Quebec history. The old districts, forts, museums and interpretation centres are a testament to 400 years of Quebec's history. Numerous shows, open-air animation during the summer and great restaurants are a reflection of an exuberant urban vitality.

Route verte

The Route Verte network of cycling trails is ideal for a ride with the family or for sporting activities. Three important trails take off from Old Saint-Jean. There are rest and picnic areas along the trails where you can stop to take a bite during your excursion. You can also check out one of our welcoming restaurants.
